About THE COFFEE HOUSE AT WEST END

The Coffee House at West End is located in a historic building that was built in 1930 by West End Baptist Church. It was originally a three-story building where the church held Sunday School for approximately 40 years.

The building fell in disrepair in the early 1980s and was used to serve the community in a variety of ways, including becoming a food pantry that fed hundreds of families in need. It also served as a place where families could get secondhand clothes and common household items before being shuttered in the 2000s. The building sat mostly dormant for over two decades – the windows were boarded up, and there was talk of demolishing the structure.

In 2015, West End Baptist Church merged with River Pointe Church, and West End Church was founded.

Five years later, West End Church began a major redesign on the building with the goal to create a space for community to gather while maintaining the historical nature of the building. Part of the original second floor was transformed as a mezzanine to provide an additional space for people to connect. A roof top deck was constructed for special events and showcases beautiful views of the Houston skyline. Additionally, acoustic improvements were made, so the building could host music events.

In October of 2021, The Coffee House at West End was brought to life as a great place to build relationships, make new friends and enjoy an amazing cup of coffee.
